ALUVA: Jaslia Johnson, a 19-year-old from Vypin Edavanakad, tragically passed away after a car accident, but her legacy will continue as her organs have given life to four people. A second-year B.Com student at Angamaly Morning Star College, Jaslia was injured in a car accident and subsequently declared brain dead.

The accident occurred on February 28 at Angamaly Telk Junction while she was returning from a part-time job that she balanced with her studies. After the accident, Angamaly police, who were on patrol duty, promptly took her to a private hospital. However, due to the severity of her injuries, she was later transferred to Aluva Rajagiri Hospital, where she was confirmed brain dead at 6:38 a.m. the following day. Her parents then chose to donate her organs.

Jaslia’s liver has been donated to a patient receiving treatment at Rajagiri Hospital in Aluva, her kidney to Kottayam Medical College, and her corneas to the Eye Bank Association of Kerala. Health Minister Veena George expressed her condolences and paid tribute to Jaslia.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Jaslia was also known for her talent in sports at the university level. She is survived by her father, Johnson; her mother, Lima; and her brother, Jasin.

Vehicle Found

The vehicle that struck Jaslia and fled the scene has been located. The car, which belongs to a native of Kottayam, was discovered in Thuravoor on Monday. The investigation team, led by Inspector A. Ramesh and including SIs Pradeep Kumar, Biju, and Senior CPO Linson Thunga, is working on the case.
