AHMEDABAD: India lifted the T20 World Cup by defeating the Kiwis by 96 runs in the final, becoming the first country ever to retain the T20 World Cup title after their triumph in 2024.

Sanju Samson (89 runs off 46 balls, including five fours and eight sixes), Abhishek Sharma (52 runs off 21 balls, including six fours and three sixes), and Ishan Kishan (54 runs off 25 balls, including four fours and a six each) scored half-centuries to propel India to a huge total. Bumrah took four wickets, and Axar Patel took three. Jasprit Bumrah was declared the Man of the Match in the final, while Sanju took home the Man of the Tournament award. Following India's victory, Virat Kohli and others came out to praise Sanju Samson for his heroics in the last three matches for the country.

Social media is now discussing the words of Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav. While talking after the win, Surya addressed Jasprit Bumrah as a 'national treasure' for being the catalyst in India’s triumph in the World Cup.

“I will call him a 'national treasure'. Bumrah knows what to do and how to do it. He is the best player in this field. I am very happy with this victory,” said Suryakumar Yadav.
