THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government is currently in a state of crisis following explosive allegations from Bindu Menon, the wife of Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar. Menon claims she discovered the minister with another woman at their family home in Valakam and asserts that his staff subjected her to physical force.

With elections on the horizon, the government finds itself in a precarious position, struggling to justify the minister's conduct or offer him any effective protection. The Home Department has also come under fire after Menon alleged that she was denied police assistance despite calling for help during the incident.
Further complicating matters is the revelation that the Chief Minister’s daughter was informed of the situation as it unfolded, leading to public scrutiny regarding the administration's delayed response. As pressure mounts, Minister Ganesh Kumar’s political future appears increasingly uncertain.

Following these events, Minister Ganesh Kumar returned to the capital, notably absent from the IT Park construction ceremony in Kottarakkara, which had been inaugurated online by the Chief Minister. The situation escalated further when the Minister’s subsequent public remarks—mocking his wife and attempting to justify his extramarital affairs—ignited additional controversy. In response, Bindu Menon openly informed the media that she had indeed witnessed the Minister in a compromising situation at their home in Valakam and confirmed that she had captured the encounter on her phone.

The incident reportedly unfolded last Saturday afternoon when Bindu arrived at the home unexpectedly and began recording footage of the scene. A physical struggle ensued as the minister's staff attempted to seize her phone; specifically, she alleged that his assistant, Shantan, tried to forcibly snatch the device, while another aide, Pradeep, attempted to block her exit by closing the door. Bindu further stated that Shantan ultimately forced the lady into a car so that she could leave, while the Minister retreated into a room and locked the door. Additionally, Bindu revealed that the Minister's secretary, Manoj, later admitted to her that a mistake had been made.

Fearing for her safety during the encounter, Bindu contacted her sister-in-law, former DGP and councillor from Thiruvananthapuram, R. Sreelekha, to report the situation. Sreelekha has since confirmed that she received a distress call from Bindu at 2:00 p.m. last Saturday and advised her to immediately seek police intervention.

Following this counsel, Bindu placed a call to the police emergency helpline, 112. Although a Pink Police unit arrived at the scene, they reportedly refused to intervene, dismissing the incident as a "family matter" that fell outside their jurisdiction before departing. Bindu further alleged that the Minister’s assistants actively attempted to obstruct the officers, preventing them from taking action.

It is reported that the Chief Minister is likely to seek a formal explanation from Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar regarding the allegations. A meeting between the two is expected to take place shortly, after which the government’s next steps will be determined. In the meantime, Minister R. Bindu has weighed in on the controversy, asserting that women must be treated with respect regardless of their status, and noting that such protection is a core value of the Left.

Bindu Menon has remained firm in her resolve, stating, "I am revealing these details only because Ganesh publicly labeled me as 'crazy.' I personally witnessed my husband in a situation so egregious that it defies imagination, and I have the evidence to prove it."

In stark contrast, Minister Ganesh Kumar has maintained a defiant stance, dismissively remarking, "Love is not a crime. A person without love is an idiot; I have 5,000 loves."
