THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Monalisa Bhosle and actor Farman Khan denied allegations of love jihad in their marriage. Both were speaking to the journalists at a press conference held in Thiruvananthapuram.

Both of them clarified that they do not have to change their religion to love and that they will remain firm in their own beliefs. Monalisa said she will remain a Hindu and Farman a Muslim. She even presented their Aadhaar cards and birth certificates at the press conference to bust rumours of underage marriage. Monalisa said she is yet to talk with her father, as he is still disheartened over her decision to marry a man from another religion. Monalisa said that she will soon try to convince her parents and solve the issues.

“I married Farman as per my wish. I was not interested in the arranged marriage and the groom my family selected for me. We got married according to Hindu rituals as per my wish,” Monalisa clarified.

Monalisa and Farman tied the knot at Poovar temple yesterday in the presence of CPM leaders. The duo even thanked the minister and other CPM leaders for their support. They also informed that they have the certificate from the temple and the panchayat documents.

P. Farman and Monalisa met on the sets of the movie 'Nagamma' directed by Binu Varghese, and later fell in love. Monalisa is the heroine in the movie, and Farman is the villain. Farman even opened up on the possibility of settling in Kerala with Monalisa.
