Fire breaks out on USS Gerald R. Ford in Red Sea; two US sailors injured

WASHINGTON: A fire broke out on the US warship USS Gerald R. Ford, which had been stationed in the Red Sea as part of military movements related to Iran. According to the United States Naval Forces Central Command, two US sailors were injured in the incident. Officials clarified that the fire was not caused by any attack related to the conflict. Instead, it started in the ship’s laundry room.

The command said the injuries sustained by the sailors were not serious and that they are receiving medical treatment. Authorities also stated that the incident has not affected the ship’s operational capability. The fire has been completely brought under control, and the vessel continues its mission.

However, officials have not released further details about the extent of the damage. An investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.
