
NEW DELHI: The election dates for four states including Kerala and the Union Territory of Puducherry have been announced. Polling will be held in Kerala on April 9. The votes will be counted and the results will be declared on May 4. Along with Kerala, Assam and Puducherry will go to the polling booths on April 9. Tamil Nadu will go to the polls in a single phase on April 23. Elections will be held in West Bengal in two phases. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced that the first phase of elections will be held on April 23 and the second phase on April 29.
The votes will be counted in all states on May 4. Gyanesh Kumar said the model code of conduct will come into effect from tomorrow as the election date has been announced. According to the figures after the SIR in the state till March 13, there are 2.70 crore voters. There is still time to add your name to the voter list.
The last date for filing nomination papers is March 23. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on March 24. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is March 26.
30,471 polling stations are being set up across the state for the elections. When checking the voter figures, 1.38 crore women voters and 1.32 crore men voters are on the list. This time, 4.24 lakh maiden voters are preparing to exercise their right to vote for the first time. There are 2.50 crore voters in Assam, 2.70 crore voters in Kerala, 9.44 lakh voters in Puducherry, 5.67 crore voters in Tamil Nadu, and 6.44 crore voters in West Bengal. Gyanesh Kumar also announced that this time, color photos of the candidates will be printed on the voting machines so that voters can easily identify the candidates.
