KOTTAYAM: Actress Veena Nair, the Twenty20 candidate for the Ettumanoor constituency, has been found ineligible to contest as her name is missing from the voter list. The discrepancy was discovered while she was preparing to file her nomination papers. Veena, who previously lived in Changanassery, believed her name was still registered there and informed party leaders that she had voted in that locality during the last local body elections.

Despite contacting the District Collector, she was informed that the deadline for adding names to the current list has passed. Since nomination papers require a specific serial number from the electoral roll, Veena cannot proceed. Consequently, the Twenty20 party has initiated the process of selecting a replacement candidate for Ettumanoor.

Similarly, actress Lakshmi Priya’s candidacy in Perumbavoor is in jeopardy. Her name is not found on the voter list in either her current residence in Karingachira, Tripunithura, or her former residence in Thrikkakara. Due to this uncertainty, a scheduled roadshow was postponed yesterday. If her application to the District Collector is not approved, the Twenty20 party is expected to declare a new candidate for the seat shortly.
