KOCHI: AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal MP alleged CPM-BJP nexus in Palakkad, which he said was the reason why CPM fielded an unpopular candidate in the constituency. Venugopal said the nexus is also active in two more seats, which will be evident in the coming days.
“There are many leaders within Congress who are eligible to be candidates. Although the names of many eligible people were naturally considered during the candidate selection discussions, the list approved by the central committee has now been released. Everyone sees this as an election to end the ten years of Left rule. Therefore, everyone will stand united and face the election. Those who could not contest in this election will be appointed to important positions if the UDF comes to power.
This election is for UDF, and people have decided it. Senior leaders from outside the state will come to the main assembly constituencies of Kerala for campaigning. They will be in Kerala for the next 12-13 days.
Take the situation of LDF. One candidate even protested against campaigning as he was not given the seat he wished for. It is no small matter that a sitting minister does not have the confidence to contest in his seat. The LDF is yet to find candidates in many seats. We are facing the election with the confidence of winning 100 seats. Candidates from Manjeswaram to Parassala are confident of a win. There is no doubt that the UDF can win seats with a good campaign.
I watched the Chief Minister's interview yesterday. He was terribly trying to justify those involved in the Sabarimala gold theft case. Those who stole Ayyappa's gold and those who were in jail are still in CM’s good books”, KC Venugopal added.
