
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed officials to ensure the smooth supply of cooking gas, petrol, and diesel to reduce public hardship despite the crisis caused by the West Asia conflict. He was speaking at a high-level meeting held in New Delhi.
Government sources said the meeting reviewed the current situation in sectors such as crude materials, gas, petroleum products, electricity, and fertilisers. Officials briefed the Prime Minister on stock levels of essential commodities and the latest updates on supply chains. They said the government is taking steps to ensure an uninterrupted supply of all essential items, including petroleum products, in view of the evolving situation in West Asia.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Health Minister J P Nadda, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Ports and Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, and Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu attended the high-level meeting. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, along with the Prime Minister’s Principal Secretaries P K Mishra and Shaktikanta Das, and senior officials from various ministries, were also present at the meeting.
More commercial LPG cylinders allocated
To ensure the smooth functioning of hotels, restaurants, and canteens, the central government has approved 20% additional commercial LPG supply. With this, the total allocation of commercial LPG will increase to 50%, including a 10% share for shifting to piped gas systems.
