NEW DELHI: The central government has dismissed as false reports claiming that domestic LPG cylinders will be reduced to 10 kg in response to the West Asian conflict. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas clarified that the news claiming 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders will be replaced with 10 kg cylinders is baseless speculation. Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma urged the public not to believe such rumours.

She said the reports are completely speculative and should not be trusted. Sujata Sharma made the statement after a ministerial meeting held to discuss developments in West Asia.

She also added that the government is working to ensure a stable supply of LPG and to prevent black marketing. In the past three weeks, the government has provided around 3.5 lakh domestic and commercial piped natural gas connections. Sujata Sharma further stated that a new policy has been introduced for the allocation of LPG cylinders for commercial use.
