LUCKNOW: A woman with the help of her lover choked her 69-year-old mother-in-law to death in Lucknow. She has been identified as Nirmala Devi. The police have arrested Nirmala Devi’s daughter Ranjana and her lover Rajan. Police said Nirmala Devi’s hands were tied up and injury marks were found on her neck.
Nirmala Devi's family lived on the ground floor of their two-storey house in Lucknow's Nishatganj. Nirmala Devi's family consisted of her son Tridesh, his wife Ranjana and their three children. Rajan had been living on the upper floor of their house on rent for the past three years. The elderly woman had found that Ranjana was having an affair with Rajan. Tridesh's complaint says that his wife and her lover committed the crime after Nirmala Devi objected to their relationship. Ranjana meets Rajan when Tridesh goes for work. The complaint states that Ranjana's family also knew about her extramarital affair with Rajan and she continued the affair even after they objected.
The couple's 14-year-old son Aditya was the first to see the woman's body with her hands and feet tied inside the house. Tridesh was at work at the time of the incident. Tridesh, who reached home after Aditya called him, immediately informed the police. The woman’s jewelry was found stolen. Switching off the CCTV cameras in the house for a short time, raised suspicion. The forensic team and the dog squad reached the spot. The sniffer dog rushed towards Rajan from the spot. Rajan told media that he was not at home at the time of the incident. However, he confessed to the crime during interrogation.
