‘Wasn’t it enough?’ Meenakshi’s initial reaction to Dileep’s marriage with Kavya

Meenakshi Dileep, daughter of Dileep and Manju Warrier, is celebrating her 26th birthday today. Many have taken to social media to wish her on the occasion. Every year, both Dileep and Kavya Madhavan share birthday wishes for Meenakshi. Meenakshi has a close bond with her father and stepmother Kavya. When Kavya became part of Dileep’s life, there was much discussion about how Meenakshi, his daughter from his first marriage, would react.

Meenakshi was 15 when Dileep got married to Kavya. Dileep opened up about her reaction when he told her about his decision to marry Kavya in an interview.

‘Kavya is not a mother to my daughter. My daughter has always been his top priority, and he believed that only someone who understands and accepts her well could build that connection. Later it would be the biggest headache for me. He said that he had never asked Kavya to become her mother, adding that it wouldn’t be easy for anyone to take on such a role for a grown-up child.

Dileep said he clearly understood that Meenakshi would not be able to accept another mother figure, so he preferred that they maintain a friendly relationship.

Recalling her response, he said Meenakshi initially asked, ‘Wasn’t it enough for you, father?’ when he spoke about the marriage. However, she also said that since Kavya was someone she already knew, she liked her and accepted the decision.
