KOCHI: The High Court has directed the central government to take a legal decision within two months on a complaint that Reporter Broadcasting Company is operating a satellite TV channel without a valid broadcast license. The order was issued by Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas while disposing of a petition filed by Sabu M Jacob, Managing Director of the Kitex Group, who alleged that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had failed to take a decision on the matter.

The central government informed the court that the security clearance of Reporter Broadcasting Company had been withdrawn by the Ministry of Home Affairs. It also stated that the change in the company’s ownership had not been approved by the ministry. The court has granted the company time until April 2 to explain if there are any grounds to avoid further action in the matter.
