WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump warned that Iran will face hell if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened within 48 hours.
If the Strait of Hormuz remains closed even on Monday, we will destroy Iran completely, including power plants and bridges, said Trump.
"Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin' Strait, you crazy bastards, or you'll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah," wrote Trump on his social media account.
The Iranian military leadership responded to Trump's threat the previous day in harsh language. Iranian General Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi warned that the gates of hell will be opened against the United States if Iran's infrastructure is attacked. Iran also stated that it will target American military bases in the region.
NATO military alliance rejected Trump's demand for military intervention to open Hormuz. Countries, including the UK and France, suggested that the Hormuz crisis be resolved through diplomatic means. A meeting of 40 countries was convened under the leadership of the UK for this purpose.
