LUCKNOW: In a tragic incident, 10 people died after a tourist boat capsized in Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. The accident occurred on the Yamuna River on Friday afternoon. Several people are reported to be missing. The incident took place within the limits of the Mathura Mant police station. Police said that the victims include six women and several men. Around 15 people were rescued from the boat and admitted to a hospital in Vrindavan. Rescue operations are ongoing, with divers and teams from the National Disaster Response Force deployed to search for the missing.

The victims were part of a group from Punjab’s Ludhiana. According to sources, the accident occurred when the boat hit a bridge near KC Ghat. Initial reports suggest there were around 40 people on board. They were part of a larger group of about 150 pilgrims who had visited temples in the area and later went for a boat ride. Strong currents in the Yamuna River are believed to have caused the accident.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences over the tragedy. He also directed officials to carry out rescue and relief operations and ensure proper treatment for the injured.
