KOZHIKODE: More information emerged in the incident of a youth committing suicide after strangling a 16-year-old girl to death. The girl has been identified as Nasreena, a plus one student. The murder was committed by Adnan (20), her first cousin (mother’s sister’s son). The incident happened early Tuesday morning in Kozhikode’s Moozhikkal. Initial reports say that the youth ended his life after strangling her to death.

The murder came to light at around 5 am today. It is reported that after killing the girl, he also tried to kill his grandmother. After preventing him from the attack, he locked him in a room and then she found Nasreena lying unconscious in her room. She was immediately taken to the hospital, but her life could not be saved. She then found him hanging when opened the room later.

Meantime, a private channel reported that Adnan's body was found twined with cellophane tape. There are also reports that this raises doubts about Adnan's death. However, there has been no official confirmation in this regard yet. The bodies of both have been sent for postmortem. The police said further confirmation will be possible only when the reports regarding this are released.

Adnan left his house last night saying that he was going to his friend's house. He entered her house using a fake key. Adnan was staying in this house until six months ago. Locals said Adnan left home following a financial dispute. It is suspected that the feud over this may have led to the murder.
