KOCHI: Vazhaa 2, the latest release from the Malayalam film industry, is now the talk of the town, with the movie already amassing more than Rs 100 crore in collections. Along with the big appreciation, a scene from the movie where actor Bijukuttan’s character falls on the road while bursting crackers left many emotional. This scene was inspired by a real incident.

Now, Bijukuttan has revealed the reality behind the viral scene. Bijukuttan wrote on Facebook that Shiban, the person in the real incident, had come looking for him. Shiban and his wife came to see Bijukuttan at home.

Shiban;

“I felt a lot of relief after watching the movie Vaazha 2. The old viral video was taken by my brother and posted when my son was in sixth grade. When my son saw me fall that day, he burst into tears and ran to me, thinking that something bad had happened to me. He tried to hold and lift me. I have never seen my son so sad before.

Later, this video went viral, and it reached people in a way I never expected. Every Vishu season, Malayalees across the globe post the video to celebrate Vishu. I felt sad whenever I saw that video. I was hesitant to go to a function or meet people after it went viral. I felt really sad when people started asking me whether I was drunk that day or if I was that scared of crackers. Even the thought of suicide went through my mind. Every time Vishu comes, the memory of that video causes me a lot of mental distress.

When the song in the movie was released, I was afraid that seeing the scene of bursting firecrackers in it would remind people about the incident again. But after watching the movie, my son called me from his workplace and asked my wife and me not to miss the movie in theatres. I felt very happy and relieved after watching the movie. It was as if some stress suddenly went away from me. The feelings I went through were clearly portrayed in the movie.”
