
KOCHI: Madhya Pradesh police reached Kochi to record the statements of the Kumbh Mela star and her husband over the controversial marriage. Following this, the married girl filed a complaint with the Chief Minister and the Kochi City Police Commissioner, seeking protection from being taken to Madhya Pradesh. The girl requested police protection, saying that she is over 18 years of age.
The Madhya Pradesh police registered a case against the groom under sections including kidnapping. The police found that the girl is still a minor. Following this, the girl's husband filed a petition in the Kerala High Court, seeking to prevent his arrest.
Following this, the High Court stayed the arrest of the young man until the 20th of this month. In the meantime, a four-member team led by an SI from the Madhya Pradesh Police arrived to record the statements of the girl and her husband.
The marriage between the girl, a native of Indore, and her boyfriend took place on March 11. CPM state secretary MV Govindan, minister V Sivankutty, and MP AA Rahim were present at the wedding ceremony. The couple went to the Thampanoor police station after their families opposed the marriage due to their different religious affiliations. The police summoned the girl's father, who was in Kerala accompanying his daughter for the shooting of a film. However, the father did not consent to the marriage. The Kerala police assisted in the marriage after the girl showed evidence of her age.
