Five killed in train accident near Prayagraj after passengers run onto tracks

LUCKNOW: At least five people were killed in a train accident near Pachdevra halt overbridge in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The incident began when a person was hit and killed by the Kalka Express. Following this, the train was halted. As passengers got down onto the tracks to understand what had happened, a second accident occurred.

Passengers from the general coaches of the Kalka Express were standing on the tracks when the Purushottam Express approached and ran into them. Four people died on the spot in the second incident. The deceased have been identified as Baliram Bhagat (36), a native of Bihar, Sunil Kumar from Mirzapur, and Akash from Firozabad. Two other victims are yet to be identified.

Train services on the Howrah-Delhi route were disrupted for some time following the accident. Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences over the incident.
