Gautam Adani turns Asia’s richest, overtakes Mukesh Ambani

NEW DELHI: Gautam Adani, founder and chairman of the Adani Group has overtaken Reliance Industries chief Mukesh Ambani, to become the richest person in Asia. The move comes amid gains in the Adani Group's share price. Mukesh Ambani had been Asia's richest person for years. Adani's net worth is $92.6 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Ambani's net worth is around $90.8 billion. Two of the world's 20 richest people include industrialists.

Share prices of Adani Group companies rose today after the news broke. Adani Power's share price was up nearly one percent. Adani Total Gas was up over two percent. Adani Green Energy gained 0.44 percent, while Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone gained 1.6 percent. Several other Adani companies also traded in gains.


Meantime, tech billionaire Elon Musk is the world's richest person with a net worth of $656 billion as of April 2026. American businessman and computer scientist Larry Page is in second place with net worth $286 billion.
