
KASARGOD: Yet another snakebite incident has been reported in the state. A four-and-a-half-year-old girl was bitten by a cobra while playing outside the house. The incident took place at Elerithattu in Kasargod. The child has been admitted to the Pariyaram Medical College and is undergoing treatment in the ICU. Her condition is said to be critical.
Meanwhile, several snakebite cases were reported across the state on the same day. In Kozhikode, Anjali (36), daughter of Shivadasan from Perambra Kannippoyil, and Mohammed Ansar (22) from Poonoor, Thamarassery, were bitten by snakes. Another victim, Bhuvan Chandran from Perumkuzhi in Thiruvananthapuram, was also bitten by a snake. Anjali was bitten by a common krait. All three are undergoing treatment in hospitals.
Two more people were bitten in Karalam near Irinjalakuda. The victims have been identified as Praseetha from Pullathara and Saneesh from Nadavarambu. In Malappuram, a 21-year-old woman, Shahala Tasneem, was also bitten by a snake.
In another incident, five venomous snakes were found inside a house in Kuttiady, Kozhikode. The snakes were discovered in the house of Kappummal Rameshan at Methala, Kuttiady. They were identified as kraits.
The family first spotted a snake on a bed where the children were sleeping. It was found near the pillow area. Later, another snake was found in an adjacent room. When they checked the bathroom, another snake was discovered there as well. With the help of neighbours, a search was conducted in the house, and a total of five snakes were found.
