THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Summer rains have begun in Kerala, offering relief from the intense heat. Widespread rain was recorded in southern Kerala on Tuesday. However, northern districts received less rainfall. The rainfall is expected to become stronger across the state from Thursday onwards. Eight districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall on different days, and a yellow alert has been issued.

According to the forecast, Kannur and Kasaragod districts may receive heavy rain on Thursday. Pathanamthitta, Idukki, and Wayanad are likely to get heavy rain on Friday. Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Ernakulam may receive heavy rain on Saturday. Thunderstorms with rain are expected after Saturday afternoon. Rainfall may decrease for a few days after Saturday, but it is expected to become active again later. There is also a chance of more widespread rain by mid-May.
