Woman run over and killed by tanker lorry in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A woman suffered a tragic death in Thiruvananthapuram after a tanker lorry hit her scooter near Killippalam junction on Thursday. Meanwhile, her four-year-old son managed to escape with minor injuries. The deceased has been identified as Sunitha (36), a native of Pappanamcode.

The accident occurred around 10.30 am on Thursday when the overspeeding tanker lorry hit Sunitha's scooter while attempting to turn the curve. Police said that Sunitha was run over by the tanker and was pronounced dead when taken into the hospital. Her son, Sreehari, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The lorry driver, Arun, was soon taken into custody.

Apart from Sreehari, Sunitha is survived by her husband Vinod and elder son Hariprasad.
