KASARGOD: The Bekal police on Thursday arrested a group of 7 persons who threatened a nurse and her family after the nurse informed the authorities about the group that violated lockdown instructions by gathering in public. A case has been registered against the group based on the complaint filed by the nurse.

According to the police, the nurse had initially warned a group of around 50 men who were seen assembling at a nearby ground to play cricket. However, the group ignored her warning and went ahead with their games. On the following day, representatives of a temple committee had also requested the group to disperse. As the men continued to violate the lockdown instructions, the nurse went on to pass the information to the police.

Following this, the police reached the area and dispersed the men. Later the 7 accused went to the nurse's house and threatened to kill her and her family members. A video footage of the incident was later handed over to the police by the nurse. She also posted a video on social media in which she can be seen stating that the group will be responsible if anything happens to her or her family members.

Hours after the video became viral on social media, the Bekal police intensified the investigation and arrested 7 members who were identified by the nurse.
