KOTTAYAM: Kerala’s COVID-19 death toll went up to eight after a 68-year-old man died at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital Friday early morning.
The dead has been identified as Joshy (68) hailing from Thiruvalla. He died while undergoing treatment at Kottayam Medical College. Joshi died Friday early morning at 2 am. Joshi who reached the state from Abu Dhabi on May 11 was admitted at Pathanamthitta General Hospital on May 18. He was shifted to Kottayam Medical College on the 26th. He was a diabetic patient.
Doctors said his treatment turned unsuccessful as he was diabetic and obese. He weighed 94 kilos. Neither he nor his family knew that he was diabetic. There were variations in his health condition over the past two or three days. By yesterday night he was put in the ventilator. He died early this morning.
His relatives have reached Kottayam Medical College. The body will be taken to Pathanamthitta and buried as per COVID protocol.
