Woman under observation for COVID-19 dies in Malappuram, swab samples sent for tests

KOZHIKODE: A woman who was under observation for suspected COVID-19 infection died on Wednesday. She has been identified as Shabnaz (26) hailing from Edappal in Malappuram. She died at a private hospital in Kozhikode. A sample of the throat swab collected from the woman has been sent for virology test and the results are expected to be available in two days.

She was undergoing treatment for cancer. She arrived from Dubai on May 20. Meantime, the number of COVID casualties in the state is rising. 86 were confirmed of the virus yesterday. The death toll rose to 11.

It has not been possible to find from where Fr K G Varghese (77), a native of Nalanchira, who died yesterday, contracted the disease. Varghese who suffered injuries in an accident on April 20 was hospitalised and he died yesterday early morning. His test results obtained yesterday confirmed of the virus.
