Road roller of ‘Vellanakalude Nadu’ for auction: New CP arrives to buy it

KOZHIKODE: The famous road roller in super-hit Priyadarshan movie Vellanakalude Nadu is up for auction in Kozhikode. The Public Works department decided to auction the mammoth machine after it was convinced that the rusty rickety road roller can no more be of use.

More than ten person came forward to offer more than the base price. The road roller was parked on the premise of Public Works department office at Kozhikode Civil station. Locals and the officers were anxious to see who would be the next CP to own the road roller.

Finally it was Thiruvannur native Salih, who won the auction.

He shelled out Rs 20,000 more than the base price to own it. He is not sure whether it will run again on road but that ‘Moideen’s road roller’, born out of the script of actor-writer Sreenivasan, will continue to run in the minds of the people.

The humour-packed scene beautifully portrayed by Mohanlal, Pappu, Maniyan Pilla Raju, Shobhana and others are still etched in the memories of the movie goers of that time.

After being in use for 33 years, the road roller had been lying ‘dead’ for the past 4 years. It was then the PWD decided to sell it by auction.
