State seeks special economic package for rain ravages, PM agrees to provide

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government requested to provide a special economic package for the state to overcome the damages caused in the rains. The chief minister explained the extensive damages caused so far, rescue operations and the rehabilitation. The Prime Minister's response was that assistance would be provided on the basis of a detailed report.

Pinarayi Vijayan made the request during a meeting convened by the Prime Minister with the chief ministers of the flood-hit states to review the flood situation. Revenue Minister E Chandrashekaran, Health Minister K K Shailaja and chief secretary Biswas Mehta attended the meeting. Apart from Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar states attended the meet.
