KOCHI: The government suspended the nursing officer soon after the audio saying that a COVID patient died due to the negligence of staff, was out. Health Minister K K Shailaja said they decided to suspend the nursing officer on a preliminary inquiry conducted.

The nursing officer of the medical college sent the audio to a Whatsapp group of nurses saying that the patient died without getting oxygen. As soon as the audio was out, the health minister ordered a probe. The minister asked the director of health education to submit a report at the earliest after a probe.

The patient died due the negligence of the staff. They escaped only because the outside world was not aware of it. Harris died on July 29 after the ventilator tubes got misplaced.
