KOCHI: Government on Monday has told the high court that lapses had happened in the investigation of 13 and nine-year-old girls who committed suicide in Valayar. The government told this to the high court while responding to a plea challenging the Palakkad sessions court’s verdict which set free the accused. The government said that lapses had happened in the adjudication of the case and as well as in its investigation. In the plea filed before the high court government has asked to cancel the sessions court’s verdict and grant nod to reopen the case.

The (POCSO) sessions court in Palakkad has granted bail to the accused citing that the prosecution has failed to prove the charges against them. The accused were set free in October 2019. The mother of the children and the government filed an appeal against this in the high court. This appeal was taken up on Monday. The court has informed that next hearing on the case will be held on November 9.
