COVID patient, ambulance driver killed in ambulance-tipper lorry collision

VENJARUMOODU: A COVID patient and an ambulance driver were killed after the ambulance carrying the patient collided with a tipper lorry. The deceased have been identified as Kuthirakulam native Narayanapillai (95) and ambulance driver Venjarumoodu native Pradeepkumar (40). The ambulance was carrying Narayanapillai to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College when the accident took place.

The incident occurred near Vembayam at around 2.30 pm on Monday. According to sources, the ambulance collided with the tipper lorry that came from the opposite direction. ]Narayanapillai died on the spot. Though Pradeepkumar was rushed to the hospital in another ambulance he also succumbed to his injuries. The bodies have been shifted to the Medical College mortuary.
