NEW DELHI: The Indian Meteorological Board (IMD) has warned that the depression in the Bay of Bengal could turn into a cyclone. Following this, cyclone warnings have been issued for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Heavy rains are also expected along the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh from Monday as the depression might turn into a deep depression. “The low pressure area over southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal has become well-marked low pressure area and persists over the same region. It is very likely to concentrate into a depression over southwest Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours and intensify further into a cyclonic storm during subsequent 24 hours,” the IMD said.
