KOZHIKODE: Muslim League state secretary K M Shaji has openly criticised the comeback of senior leader Kunhalikutty to state politics. Political responsibility does not only involve contesting and winning. Those who stand outside the electoral realm are the ones with the greatest political responsibilities. He was speaking in the felicitation programme organised for the league representatives at Nadapuram, Kummankode, who won in the local body polls.
Nobody should become mad for power. When you are elected by people, based on your influence then responsibility increases. “We should be able to discharge the job bestowed upon us by the people. Muslim league does not believe in the perception that one cannot survive without power,” he said.
League’s working committee has decided that P K Kunhalikutty should resign from the MP post and devote more time in state politics ahead of the assembly polls. Sources say that he will regulate the party’s campaign from Thiruvananthapuram.
