COVID-19: Kerala reports 5507 new cases on Tuesday; 4952 cases through contact, 25 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 5507 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 4952 persons developed the disease through contact including 433 cases without an identified source of infection. 53 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 69 health workers tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. 1 person, who recently returned from the UK, tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.


Meanwhile, 4270 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 64,556 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 25 deaths due to the virus on Tuesday with the toll rising to 3347.

In the last 24 hours, 64,614 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 8.52.

With the addition of 1 new region and the removal of 5, there are 436 hotspots in the state.
