Kerala logs 6604 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, 5401 cases through contact, 26 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 6604 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 5401 persons developed the disease through contact including 477 cases without an identified source of infection. 73 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 53 health workers tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. 1 person, who recently returned from the UK, tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.


Meanwhile, 5158 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 65,373 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 26 deaths due to the virus on Wednesday with the toll rising to 3373.

In the last 24 hours, 69,081 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 8.69.

With the addition of two new regions and the removal of 11, there are 427 hotspots in the state.
