COVID-19: Kerala reports 6186 new cases on Tuesday; 5541 cases through contact, 26 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 6186 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 5541 persons developed the disease through contact including 484 cases without an identified source of infection. 92 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 69 health workers tested positive for the virus on Tuesday.

7 UK returnees tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. So far, 63 UK returnees have tested positive for COVID-19. Their samples have been sent to Pune NIV for further tests.

Meanwhile, 4296 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 70,259 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 26 deaths due to the virus on Tuesday with the toll rising to 3506.

In the last 24 hours, 66,259 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 9.34.

With the addition of 8 new regions and the removal of 17, there are 410 hotspots in the state.
