COVID-19: Kerala reports 2938 new cases on Tuesday; 2657 cases through contact, 16 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 2938 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 2938 persons developed the disease through contact including 209 cases without an identified source of infection. 58 persons who came from outside the state tested positive for the virus. 14 health workers contracted the disease on Tuesday.

3512 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 47,277 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 16 deaths due to the virus on Tuesday with the toll rising to 4226.

Kannur- 225

Kottayam- 217

Thiruvananthapuram- 190

Idukki- 62

Wayanad- 57

In the last 24 hours, 68,094 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 4.31.

With the addition of 3 new regions and the removal of 8, there are 362 hotspots in the state.
