THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ramesh Chennithala welcomes the high court decision on special rice distribution. “Has never taken the stand to block rice distribution. I had only opposed using it for electoral gains,” he said.
The high court stayed the poll panel’s decision rejecting the nod for the state government to distribute Easter-Vishu food kits. The interim order of the high court comes in the plea submitted by the state government questioning the poll panel’s action.
The election commission has put on hold the rice distribution in the state considering the complaint filed by the opposition. The opposition leader has earlier pointed out that the government's decision to distribute the food kit and social welfare pensions is meant for influencing the voters. Following this, LDF also commenced a new campaign in social media with the slogan, “UDF, the food kit disruptors.”
