Fuel price policy that insults people

petrol

Fuel prices in the country are going North on a daily basis without any logic so as to shame the very complainants. The increase is in paise but the true nature of the increase can be known only when week-based calculation is made. In Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, petrol prices have gone up above Rs 100. Elsewhere, prices in Kerala are hovering around Rs 100. Diesel, the main fuel for freight transport, has risen sharply, almost to the level of petrol. India has become one of the most fuel rich countries in the world with high fuel prices.

The unwillingness to raise fuel prices till recently was due to the assembly elections in five states. After the election, the prices started going up. Is petrol and diesel a rarity just because prices are rising every day? How can the government avoid saying that the oil companies set the prices of petroleum products? If the oil companies have full power over it, why didn’t the price increase only during elections? The Centre is pursuing a fuel policy that is ridiculing and insulting the people. No matter how high the price is, the needy will buy it at any cost. Petroleum products have become an indispensable commodity. The comparison with international prices is done to deceive people. Fuels are rising due to excessive taxes levied by the Central and State Governments
Any child will understand the truth that they have to pay a hefty price for fuel. Governments do not talk about high taxes when they say oil companies have the power to set prices. Bringing it under GST can reduce the price to some extent. Petroleum products are like ducks that lay golden eggs for both the Centre and the states.

The economic burden of exorbitant inflation on diesel is reflected in all sectors. As the cost of freight increases, so does the impact on the market. Fuel prices are one of the main reasons for the rising prices of all commodities, including essential commodities. The price of petroleum products here will remain high even if it is $ 150 or $ 50. Consumers did not get the benefit of it, even at the steep drop of crude oil to thirty dollars. For the fifth day in a row, the hike in petrol and diesel prices was implemented giving international prices as an excuse. The sale of products at exorbitant prices is called black marketing. There is a law to punish such people. But at the government level no one will question. That’s what is happening when it comes to fuel prices.
