NEW DELHI: India has informed the UN Security Council that a peaceful solution is the need of the hour in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. India has condemned all acts of violence, especially rocket attacks from Gaza, and underlined that “immediate de-escalation” is the need of the hour. It was Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan who informed this through his Facebook post. The minister also said that the death of Malayali woman Soumya was mentioned in the Security Council by India's representative.

India called on both sides to exercise restraint and maintain the status quo. It has become an urgent need to hold direct talks between the two parties and to reach a two-state solution. India called on the United Nations and the international community to take immediate action to end the current conflict.
