Retd. senior superintendent killed as tree falls on car

KATTAPPANA: In a tragic incident, a retired senior superintendent of the education department was killed after a tree fell on top of a moving car. The deceased has been identified as KI Soosannamma (60), wife of Thodupuzha native PD Sebastian. Her husband and son Arun suffered injuries. The accident took place near Puliyanmala Appanpadi on the Munnar-Kumali state highway at 4 pm yesterday.

The accident took place when the family was returning to Thodupuzha after dropping Arun's wife at Mundiyeruma PHC. Soosannamma was sitting in the backseat of the car. Sources said that a large tree in the cardamom garden fell on top of the car. Though Soosannamma was rushed to a private hospital in Kattappana, she succumbed to her injuries. The body is currently kept at the mortuary.
