THRISSUR: While the BJP leaders have maintained that they had nothing to do with the money that was found in connection with the Kodakara hawala case, the party suffered a setback after the police report stated that the money belonged to the BJP leaders. The police have submitted the report before the court. Police also stated that it was hawala money and it should not be given to Dharmarajan, the complainant in the case. The police report was filed after Dharmarajan lodged a petition to get back the money.

According to the report filed in the Irinjalakuda Magistrate's Court, the money came from Karnataka. It also stated that this was hawala money that was brought to Kerala for the election campaign as per the demand of BJP leaders. The money was supposed to be handed over to the district treasurer of Alappuzha. The report also stated that the probe team was convinced that Dharmarajan had brought the hawala money in the month before the election.
