Death of Vismaya: Arrest of Kiran to be registered soon, post-mortem report today

KOLLAM: The arrest of Kiran Kumar, husband of Vismaya, who committed suicide at her husband’s residence, will be registered today. Kiran, a motor vehicle inspector, may be charged under sections of domestic violence prevention act.

Police are also planning to record statements of more people. The post mortem report of Vismaya will be obtained today. Her family had alleged that Vismaya's death was not a suicide but was murdered and hanged. A clarity would be obtained on her death after getting the post-mortem report.

Meantime, women’s commission member Shahida Kamaal will visit Vismaya’s house in Nilamel today. The commission had initiated suo moto proceedings and had sought a report from Kollam rural SP.

24-year-old Vismaya was found hanging at her husband’s residence Monday early morning. She sustained brutal injuries over dowry before her death. She had sent the pictures of it to her brother via Whatsapp.
