THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: MC Josephine, chairperson of the Kerala Women's Commission, has tendered an apology for misbehaving with a woman who called her to lodge a complaint of domestic violence. "I was outraged that women did not come forward to complain. Later, I realised that I should not have reacted in such a manner. I would like to express regret if my words had wounded that sister," Josephine said.

"As a woman and as a mother, I was disturbed by the recent attacks and atrocities against women. During the telephone interview, a sister from Ernakulam called me and told me about her family issues. However, I was not able to hear her properly as her voice was too low. At that point, I asked her to speak louder. During the conversation, I realized that she had not filed a complaint with the police. This disturbed me so much that I took the freedom of a mother and asked her why she did not file a complaint with the police," Josephine added.
