Two hospital employees killed in tanker lorry-bike collision in Vyttila

KOCHI: Two employees of a private hospital were killed in a tanker lorry-bullet collision in Vyttila. The deceased have been identified as Cherthala native Vinson Varghese (24) and Thrissur native Jeemol (24)

The accident took place at 12 noon yesterday while they were on their way to the hospital from Ernakulam. According to sources, Vinson's bike collided with a tanker lorry that came through the flyover. Eyewitnesses said both died on the spot.

The bodies, kept in the Lakeshore Hospital mortuary, will be handed over to relatives after the postmortem today.

Vinson is survived by his wife Asna Sebastian and one-year-old son. He has been an employee at Lakeshore Hospital for five years. Jeemol joined the job a year ago.

The Maradu police have arrested Shahjad, 40, a tanker lorry driver from Uttar Pradesh. He has been remanded.
