THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Several families were evacuated as the hilly areas in the state witnessed heavy rainfall. North Kerala is on high alert. Fifteen families and eight migrant workers were evacuated after rivers overflowed in Malappuram. It has been raining heavily for two days in the hilly areas of the district. There was also extensive damage.
It has been raining heavily in the Attappadi region in Palakkad for the last three days. Bhavani river and Kunthi river have overflowed. The Chemmanur and Thavalam bridges are under water. The railings of the Chemmanur bridge were damaged. A culvert in Shanthanpara on the Athirappilly-Malakappara route got damaged last night. Following this, vehicular traffic was prohibited.
