Five more in state confirmed with Zika virus, total of 61 cases so far

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George has said that five more people in the state have been diagnosed with Zika virus. The Zika virus has been confirmed in 53-year-old from Neyyattinkara, 44 year old Pettah native, 27-year-old Nemom native, 32 year old Vellayambalam and 36 year old Thiruvananthapuram native who work in Ernakulam.

The virus was confirmed in tests conducted at the Public Health Lab, Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Virology Lab and NIV Alappuzha. With this, a total of 61 people in the state have been diagnosed with Zika. There are currently 7 active cases. None of them are pregnant and are not admitted to hospital. "Everyone's health is satisfactory," minister Veena George said in a statement.
