Kerala Sahitya Akademi Awards announced; Poetry award to OP Suresh; fellowships awarded to Perumbadavam and Sethu

THRISSUR: The Kerala Sahitya Akademi awards for the year 2020 has been announced. Senior Malayalam writers Perumbadavam Sreedharan and Sethu have been honoured with fellowships. The fellowships carry a cash award of Rs 50,000 and a two sovereign gold locket.

S Hareesh’s Meesha (Moustache) has been adjudged the best novel. Taj Mahal, written by OP Suresh, won the award for the best poetry. Vaanku by Unni R has bagged the award for the best short story. PF Mathews' Adiyalapretham has been adjudged the best novel. The awards carry a prize money of Rs 25,000, citation and a certificate.

KK Kochu, KR Mallika, Sidharthan Paruthikkad, Mambuzha Kumaran, Chavara KS Pilla and MA Rahman have been selected for the lifetime achievement award. They will receive Rs 3,000 and a certificate.
