Actor Riza Bava to be buried today; final rites will adhere to Covid protocol

KOCHI: The funeral of actor Riza Bava, who died yesterday, will be held today. The final rites will be held at Chembittapally Juma Masjid, Kochangadi. There would not be any public homage as the samples collected from the actor’s body tested positive for Covid. The actor died last evening at 3.30 pm while undergoing treatment for kidney ailments.

Riza Bava was born on September 24, 1966 in Kochi. His school education was at St Sebastian's School, Thopumpady. He entered the film field through drama. He first acted in 'Vishupakshi' in 1984. The film was not released.

He was paired opposite Parvathy in Dr Pashupathy released in 1990. Riza Bava was best known for his villain role as John Honai in the 1990 Malayalam film In Harihar Nagar.

He had acted in almost 150 films and more than 20 serials. He was also a dubbing artiste. In 2010, he won the state award for dubbing artist in the film Karmayogi.
