Kerala records 5080 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, 40 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 5080 COVID-19 cases on Sunday. Among these, 4776 persons developed the disease through contact, including 252 cases without an identified source of infection. 28 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 24 health workers contracted the disease on Sunday.

7908 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 58,088 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 40 deaths due to the virus on Sunday with the toll rising to 37,495.

District wise breakup of positive cases:
Ernakulam 873, Kozhikode 740, Thiruvananthapuram 621, Thrissur 521, Kannur 361, Kottayam 343, Kollam 307, Idukki 276, Wayanad 228, Pathanamthitta 206, Malappuram 203, Palakkad 175, Alappuzha 143, Kasargod 83.

53,892 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
